Teacher Education at MSU Denver
Welcome!
MSU Denver Teacher Education offers teacher licensure programs for undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students interested in becoming K-12 teachers. We offer programs in multiple endorsement areas and grade levels. Please check out the Programs tab on the left for options. If you are interested in getting started with one of our programs, please visit the Getting Started tab to request the information you need to apply to the college, set up advising appointments, and start planning your licensure program.

5/7/2013: Project WILD - Summer 2013 (

Project WILD is a workshop that happens once a year in the summer semester. This workshop is great for any current or future educator. It looks good on a resume as professional growth and provides excellent materials for teachers and substitute teachers. Click on the link to see the flyer/regsitration form for details.
5/2/2013: Check out the Social Justice Reading Series for Summer 2013 ( 304 KB)
We will meet at Zooks' Coffee Shop in NW Denver from 5-7 on July 10. We will be discussing How Children Succeed: Grit, Curiosity, and the Hidden Power of Character by Paul Tough. The New York Times said, "Though the title “How Children Succeed” makes the book sound like an instruction manual for parents, it’s really a guide to the ironies and perversities of income inequality in America"
Feel free to obtain the book from any bookstore or library of your choosing.

4/26/2013: The Teacher Education Department office relocations are complete!
The Teacher Education Front Desk is located in WC 136. This is the office to visit for advising scheduling. WC 136 is also home to all Elementary Education and Reading faculty as well as the Master of Arts in Teaching program coordinator, Sue Joseph.
WC 132 is home to our Secondary/K12 Education and Educational Technology faculty.
The Teacher Application Center is now located in WC 162 (look for the gray hanging sign in the hallway that reads "Teacher Application Center"). WC 162 is also home to all Special Education and Linguistically Diverse Education faculty.
The Student Teaching Center is located in WC 136E (formerly WC 141). Look for the gray hanging sign in the hallway that reads "Student Teaching Center".
3/28/2013: We have updated our GPA Calculation Worksheets for Student Teaching. Current licensure students should download the new worksheet for their program and transfer their data from the old worksheet.

Undergraduate students, have you applied for COF? Remember to authorize your classes when you register, too!
Are you Formally Admitted to the Teacher Licensure Program?
Students who wish to complete any of our Teacher Licensure Programs must attend one of our Application Meetings and become Formally Admitted to our program to complete the required courses and begin student teaching. Students should attend an Application Meeting one or two semesters prior to beginning Teacher Education courses. Once you have attended the meeting, you will need ot meet the following requirements to be Formally Admitted:
Fingerprints - You must submit acceptable fingerprints and required payment or already have fingerprints on file with the Colorado Department of Education.
Freshman Composition I & II - Classes must be passed with "C" or better, does not apply to post-bac students.
Math Pre-requisite - You must meet one of our Math department's pre-requisites for MTH 1610 (does not apply to Math majors, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science majors in Secondary Science Education, Economics majors, or Math/Science post-bac students), or you must have already taken MTH 1610 or equivalent.
GPA - Your last 30 credit hours in college must be a 2.5 or higher.
Elementary Education Students- You must also show proof of registration for or proof of passing the Elementary PLACE or Praxis II content knowledge exam.
Special Education Students - You must show proof of passing the Elementary PLACE or Praxis II content knowledge exam.
Remember, once you have attended the Application Meeting, visit the Teacher Application Center as you meet the requirements above so we can update your file and formally admit you once all requirements are satisfied.
