The mission of the Student Academic Success Center (SASC), a learning assistance center comprised of a collaboration of academic support services, is to provide a holistic approach to student development, learning, and persistence towards academic and personal goal attainment. SASC accomplishes its mission through the following objectives:
Promoting an environment that develops and engages a diverse community of learners.
Empowering students to take responsibility and become accountable for their learning.
Providing students with services and activities that develop the skills necessary for academic success and personal growth.
Facilitating an ongoing assessment of student learning and persistence.
Leading and collaborating with the campus community in the areas of student success, engagement, and retention.
Immigrant Services Program
The Immigrant Services Program assists students whose first language is not English.
Metro Summer Scholars Program
The Metro Summer Scholars Program assists students with the transition from high school to college.
Metro Scholars Program
The Metro Scholars Program provides scholarship students with academic support.
Student Intervention Services (SIS)
Student Intervention Services (SIS) works with students who are returning to college with a cumulative GPA below a 2.0 and current academic probation students who have a cumulative GPA below 2.0. SIS also receives the academic suspension appeals for review. SIS also administers the Academic Alert Program which provides mid-term grade information for students.
The Tutoring Program provides free tutoring to all students enrolled at MSU Denver.
Federal TRiO Student Support Services Program
The Federal TRiO Student Support Services Program provides support and services to students who are first generation, low–income, and have a disability.
Metro Quick Start Program
The Metro Quick Start Program is designed to help students complete the necessary college prerequisites for Reading and English in one semester. The Quick Start program provides MSU Denver students with a pair of connected classes presented in an academically demanding, fast paced, in class and on-line format. This allows students to take Reading and/or English 060 and 090 in one semester. During the first seven weeks of the semester, students will take Reading and/or English 060 and the second seven weeks of the semester students will take Reading and/or English 090. Students who participate in the program will need to have access to a computer since the program includes both in class and on-line instruction. Each class equals 3 credit hours*.
*Student Success course – Students in specified cohorts are required to enroll in a one credit hour Student Success course that teaches students how to navigate college through lessons in time management, study skills, learning styles, and more.
