Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships News
The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships and other student administrative offices have been relocated to the new Student Success Building located near the Tivoli. FAFSA for 2013-2014 is now available. Priority deadline for students to have complete financial aid files is April 1, 2013. The IRS Data Retrieval is available to students and parents after ten business days of filing federal income taxes. Students are encouraged to use the IRS Data Retrieval tool to complete their FAFSA. For Summer 2013, students must be registered in at least 6 credits, have a complete FAFSA and financial aid file, and be making Financial Aid SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress) by April 12, 2013. To learn more about receiving financial aid for the summer please visit our Summer Aid page. Note: Summer Aid is based on annual aid limits. If you have reached your limit for the year during Fall and Spring semesters, you will most likely not have eligibility for the Summer. You can view the aid you have received on ConnectU and you can view the federal loan limits on our Debt Management: Loan Limits page. The MSU Denver Scholarship application for the 2013-2014 aid year is now available on the Scholarship page. Priority deadline for applications is March 1, 2013. Applications are accepted until November 1, 2013. The deadline for Spring SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress) Appeals is May 1, 2013. SAP appeals for Fall 2013 are being held for students who are enrolled in the current semester until grades post on May 24, 2013. Appeals have a processing wait time of 5-7 business days. Summer appeals are due by August 1, 2013. The deadline to turn in “Spring only” Stafford, PLUS, alternative loan applications and loan re-evaluation is May 3, 2013. Transfer students who were enrolled in another institution during the Spring 2013 semester must make sure that their federal aid has been cancelled with the prior institution before they can receive aid at MSU Denver for the Summer 2013 semester. The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships has a form available for you to take to your prior institution to complete this process on the forms page. It is important for students to become familiar with the NSLDS (National Student Loan Data Systems) website at www.nslds.ed.gov to keep track of their federal student aid. This site keeps track of how much a student has received in both Stafford Loans and Federal Pell Grant. See our Debt Management page for more information. IMPORTANT: Email is the official form of communication at Metropolitan State University of Denver. All financial aid correspondence is sent to students via their ConnectU email accounts. Check your school email often. If you would like to speak to a financial aid counselor, they are on-call from 8AM-4:30PM, Monday-Thursday. Counselors are not available to see students on Friday. Individual counselor schedules can be found by clicking the Counselor On-Call Schedule.
